I kept playing Kingdom: Classic this week in an attempt to see if I could complete the game. I didn’t get that far, but a run I had showed me how to play it better. It also highlighted a slight flaw in the endgame: you may know your kingdom will fall, but it will still take time before it does.
I had thought it was over. But I managed to regain my crown before the Greed fled. The Kingdom was safe for now. Yet the walls lay in ruin, and the farms had been razed. Rebuilding would take time, time we did not have.

Many of my men had been forced back into poverty. I tried to get them back on their feet, but without the farms there was little food to feed the hungry. The few builders that remained rebuilt the walls. But we could already see it wasn’t enough. Our resources were stretched too thin.

Days passed as we tried to slowly rebuild. Then, another Blood Moon. The Greed were strong this night, tearing through our defenses like butter. Yet somehow we survived another day. We would have to rebuild again, only this time we had less resources, and less defenses remained.

The Greed only came from the East this time, so I explored to the West. Our knights had destroyed the portals, something I hadn’t known. Had I been aware I could have spent more resources on a better defense to the East. It’s too late now to know if we could have survived.

Days pass with nothing to rebuild with. We have no defenses left. Another Blood Moon rises. I run from the Greed. I find myself backed up against a cliff face. There is no escape. All I can do is wait for the Inevitable.
