When you start playing Crumble, one of the first things the game does is to recommend that you use a gamepad. Despite this, I played through the whole game using keyboard and mouse. After achieving this amazing feat, I’m beginning to regret this decision.
This week I finished Crumble, and it was a lot of fun. Of course, my final times for each level are very high. It’s a challenging game, often leading you to swing on platforms attached to rotating rocks, or having to climb higher and higher using your tongue to hang on beams. I would have though that Overload would be disorienting, but I found myself fighting through vertigo and motion sickness to complete many of the levels.

But it felt so satisfying to finally reach that last run to the rocket. The platform you are on is swinging from side to side, so you have to time your run carefully and jump at the last second. I almost missed, but my ball’s tongue saved the day.

Obviously to get good at this game and achieve better times will require a lot of practise. I’m not sure if I want to invest that time into it, but I’m going to keep it installed. It’s a fun game that I think I’ll keep dropping into to it from time to time.

Of course, I may have to invest in a gamepad if I intend to do so. Most of my gaming sessions ended with sore fingers, since the controls don’t work quite as well on a keyboard. Obviously I was still able to play through and complete the game, but with a gamepad I could actually improve and get better times.

As it stands, it’s one more game finished in my Steam Library. Time to find something new to play.
