A New Song About an Old Man

Sometimes I dabble in poetry, and I came up with an idea for this song a while ago. It’s still a work in progress, but I think it still works in its current form. Based on the original old lady that ate a fly, this one is about an old man instead.

So let’s just get right into the song. Any relation to real persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental.

There was an Old Man

There was an old man who raped a child,
I don’t know why he raped a child – he always lies!

There was an old man who murdered his friend,
In an attempt to make the rumours end;
He murdered his friend to hide the rape of a child;
I don’t know why he raped a child – he always lies!

There was an old man who hid the files,
So no one would know he’s a paedophile;
He hid the files so it looked suicide;
He murdered his friend to hide the rape of a child;

I don’t know why he raped a child – he always lies!

There was an old man who starts a trade dispute,
To stop him falling into disrepute;
He started disputes to distract from the files;
He hid the files so it looked suicide;
He murdered his friend to hide the rape of a child;

I don’t know why he raped a child – he always lies!

There was an old man who started a war,
Which only helped to make people more poor;
He started the war because trade disputes failed;
He started disputes to distract from the files;
He hid the files so it looked suicide;
He murdered his friend to hide the rape of a child;

I don’t know why he raped a child – he always lies!
